The Stinar Voice Studio

With over 15 years of teaching experience at university, public and private schools, Stinar specializes in operatic and musical theater techniques for singers, actors and dancers.  Stinar's methodology combines the best that "speech level singing" and the classical "bel canto" singing techniques have to offer.  Through his voice studio in Denver, he offers private singing lessons, master classes, and recitals. Stinar  strives to realize each student's full vocal and artistic potential as a unique singer and actor. Stinar's students have been accepted to prominent music schools and summer programs across the country and they have developed successful careers having performed from Broadway to the regional stages.  Recently one of Stinar's students was even nominated for a Grammy.  Stinar's former students are now attending such prestigious schools as the San Francisco Conservatory, NYU (Tisch and Cap21), Berklee School of Music, Julliard, Eastman, Cincinnati Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Roosevelt, University of Denver, Cal Arts, Point Park University, CU Boulder, University of the Arts, AMDA,and the University of Oklahoma. Stinar is also a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

You will learn in a supportive and positive environment, with an experienced teacher and performer. Lessons will provide practical ways to apply solid vocal principles to the daily use of your voice. Each vocal exercise is specifically chosen to help nurture a healthy singing technique. The goal of technique is to find the most true, free and resonant tone of which each particular voice is capable.  Mr. Stinar also has extensive acting and stage experience through his years of performing.  He has also frequently taught “Acting for Opera” courses, directed annual “Opera Scenes”, prepared and coached countless recitals and was most recently was the Music Director and Conductor for Urinetown the Musical which won 2010 International Thespian honors.  MTI also honored this production further by recording it as an example dvd of how to perform the show for future rentals!  Check it out HERE!

Mr. Stinar offers master classes and student recitals several times a year. This will ensure that you have the needed opportunities to hone your technique and your presentational skills in a comfortable setting.  The Stinar Studio is located in Central Denver and offers 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons to accommodate all needs and ages.  Please contact me for available times and contracts.

I worked with Brian for several years in Colorado Springs, working on vocal technique and building repertoire. In that time, not only was he always a pleasure to work with, but Brian was also very nurturing of my learning process and understanding of my busy schedule. I know that he will continue to do great things for his students.
Since graduating from high school in 2004, Tripp Fountain has received his BFA in Drama from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and has performed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and on the national tours of EVITA and CATS. Tripp is now touring the country with HAIR, which will be making a return engagement to Broadway for the Summer of Love 2011. ~Tripp Fountain~

Throughout my studies with Brian Stinar, I have accomplished more than I would have ever thought possible! As a teacher, he is immensely well educated in the areas of voice, acting, musicianship and life in general! Every time I attend a lesson, we are able to accomplish so much and the music that he picks for my particular voice type always helps me to flourish; not only through the process of learning it, but the resulting performance is always polished and I am confident. Recently, I was accepted into Oberlin Conservatory's Summer Vocal Program for High School Students. This is a prestigious program and I wouldn't have been able to do it without Mr. Stinar. I arranged a benefit concert to raise money to attend, and Mr. Stinar was so kind as to sing on the recital with me. He is the kind of person who is always positive and his attitude makes all of his students feel the need to succeed!  ~Melody Finch~

As a student of the Colorado Springs Conservatory, I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Stinar in quite a few different fashions. I found his Opera History course very informative and fun. He had well planned lessons that helped us gain a better understanding of the pieces we were each working on in Studio. He is an excellent voice instructor. He is very passionate about singing and helping his students realize their potential. He has a simple way of communicating technique... I never felt "lost" or "confused" about what he taught or explained. He also brings a load of fun to every class he teaches and lesson he gives! I find him to be an extraordinary performer... very professional in rehearsals and great development of the characters he portrays. I am currently living in Los Angeles, California and pursuing a career in acting and singing. I recently recorded on two tracks for an upcoming independent movie titled "Theo" (directed by Ezna Sands and starring Mira Sorvino). ~Marcie Fanning~
